The most versatile PIR in the world just got better. Thales ATM now has available a software upgrade for the Model 7010 PIR that allows calibration only once every 4 years, instead of the present 1-year cycle. This 4-year calibration cycle has been approved by the USA Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for PIR part numbers 098588-0202 and 098588-0300. These units have been incorporated into the FAA’s ILS Maintenance Manual.

When the 4-year PIR calibration upgrade is purchased this will also incorporate all of the latest software improvements including (Y2K). Units received that do not work or are damaged are subject to additional repair costs.

This upgrade will eliminate the CAL DUE indication on the LCD display. CAL DUE will be replaced with a 4-year calibration sticker affixed to the front panel.

How long does it take you to get your PIR packed, the paper work filled out and get it shipped. Plus don’t forget all the time it takes to keep track of those air bill numbers and the insurance paper work. What if you need your PIR to get the system back on the air and it’s being calibrated? With the 4-year software upgrade your PIR is only unavailable once every 4 years. By taking advantage of the 4-year calibration upgrade you will notice the savings immediately of this Win-Win deal.

How can you tell if your PIR qualifies for the 4-year calibration software, or if the software has already been installed? There are two ways:

  1. Check the serial plate on the front of the unit.  If the nameplate has part number 098588 or 098588-0300 with serial numbers 001-601 or 1001-1080 or 098588-0202 all serial numbers, it qualifies for the 4-year calibration upgrade. Next, check the software version. Turn the unit on and press the <SPL> key. Enter the number <500>. Press the <SET> key. If the number on the LCD display is less then 4.0, your system does not have the 4-year PIR Calibration Software. Press the <SPL> key to exit. Turn the unit off.
  2. Check the calibration sticker. The 4-year is blue and white.

NOTE: When returning your PIR for calibration, please return only the PIR (small blue box) with the battery removed. Also, please do not send back the Accessory Kit (suitcase size box) or any of the antennas.
