The introduction of new ICAO spectrum standards and the installation of newer digital airborne ILS and VOR receivers has created the need to enhance spectrum and frequency control of synthesized ILS and VOR carrier signal sources. Thales ATM now offers a state-of-the-art direct digital synthesizer (DDS) design for upgrading existing MK10 ILS, MK20 ILS, and 5850 VOR.

• The same synthesizer works in the Localizer, VOR, and Glide path reducing spares requirements.
• For dual frequency ILS operation, the synthesizer provides two outputs for dual frequency with an exact 8Khz offset.
• The same synthesizer provides an output on center frequency for single frequency stations.
• Phase modulation and spurious is extremely low.
• No tuning is required.
• Frequency is extremely easy to set without the need to look in the manual for instructions.
• Frequency stability is very good: better than +/- 0.0005% over the temperature range thus meeting ICAO standards with up to a factor of 10 margin better than the requirement.
