Very High Frequency Omni Ranging Equipment (VOR)
Thales ATM's years of engineering experience in the design and development of VOR systems. Exceeding FAA and ICAO requirements for signal accuracy.
Cost savings are realized in the system's ease of maintenance, enhanced by an equipment front panel that contains all essential indicators and controls, thus eliminating the need to connect an external computer to check the status of the equipment. ADA software and object-oriented design aid in lowering life-cycle software costs.
Thales ATM VOR systems provide accurate reliable navigation information to aircraft en route. The Thales ATM VOR system uses a dual transmitter single monitor solid state electronic subsystem, cylindrical slotted VOR antenna, environmentally controlled shelter and walk-in antenna radome to produce a signal which helps in-flight aircraft distinguish their location.
Electronic units in the electronic subsystem are installed on slides inside cabinets allowing each cabinet to be easily serviced.
VOR units include:
station monitor
local control unit
rf distribution/changeover unit
two solid state electronic gonimeter units
two 100-watt solid state transmitters
two modulator/power supply/keyer units
Space is also available for additional installation of a second station monitor, flight service station receiver and a Thales ATM VOR test generator.
The VOR cylindrical slotted antenna is recognized as the world standard for excellence in performance and stability. It utilizes four vertical slot radiators which provide minimal course error and excellent suppression of vertical polarization without the need for an external suppression screen.

The circular steel equipment shelter, installed on a poured concrete foundation, protects the VOR. A support pedestal serves as a center support for the shelter and secures the coaxially mounted VOR and DME antennas. A walk-in fiberglass radome, which covers the VOR antenna, allows easy access for adjustments.

The Thales ATM VOR also includes maintenance spare parts and maintenance test equipment.
