Portable Instrument Landing Systems Receiver (PIR)

The Thales ATM Portable Instrument Landing System Receiver (PIR) model 7010 is a complete stand alone microprocessor based ILS and VOR test receiver. It is used to verify radiated ILS and VOR signals including Localizer, Glide Slope, Marker Beacon and VOR signals. The unit is extremely accurate because it is calibrated to a known standard signal generator using a computer to control both the generator and the PIR through the calibration process. The calibration process makes hundreds of measurements that are stored inside the PIR and used as a lookup table to correct any errors. It also uses digital signal technology to analyze and calculate all measurements.
